The Myth of Leonardo in Otranto
Monna Lisa and the Naked Gioconda through five centuries
The cultural association FROM ZERO - arts research group - in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Otranto, hosts inside the Aragonese Castle of Otranto the exhibition “The Myth of Leonardo in Otranto. Monna Lisa and the Naked Gioconda through five centuries”, curated by the Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci.
Such expo actualizes the previous performances carried out in Florida, Japan and Taiwan; it presents the incomparable phenomenon of the world's most renowned painting, with an extraordinary complexity of artworks and images.
The exhibition itinerary consists of two sections.
The historical part includes: the exceptional picture of “Naked Gioconda” attributed to Salai (the favourite pupil of Leonardo) and realized on an idea by the Maestro; a painting of the sixteenth-century and a marble sculpture portraying the "Gioconda" exposed in the Louvre ; a "Nodo Vinciano" done in 1508.
The modern and contemporary side begins with the two “Gioconde L.H.O.O.Q.” (with the mustache and raseè) of the great Dadaist Marcel Duchamp, and continues with several interpretations produced by avant-garde artists, terminating with a video and multimedia products.
